Trauma-Informed Practice with Survivors of Sexual Trauma
A graduate-level continuing education course equipping clinicians to provide trauma-informed, evidence-based care to adult survivors of sexual trauma. The course integrates the neurobiology of trauma, prevalence data, assessment and safety planning, evidence-based treatment models, and clinician self-care to support competent and ethical practice.

What you'll learn
- Describe the prevalence of sexual trauma and explain the neurobiological mechanisms underlying common trauma responses in survivors.
- Conduct a trauma-informed assessment that prioritizes physical and psychological safety, screening, and collaborative safety planning.
- Differentiate among evidence-based treatment approaches for sexual trauma and select interventions matched to client presentation and phase of recovery.
- Apply trauma-informed principles to clinical decision-making, including the management of dissociation, shame, and re-traumatization risk.
- Identify the signs of vicarious trauma and implement self-care and organizational strategies that sustain ethical, effective practice.
