Sexual Trauma: Assessment, Treatment, and Evidence-Based Interventions

Sexual trauma affects approximately one in six women and one in thirty-three men in the United States — making it one of the most prevalent trauma histories in any clinical caseload. This 3-hour continuing education course provides mental health professionals with a comprehensive clinical foundation in sexual trauma: understanding the spectrum of sexual violence and its psychological impact, conducting trauma-informed sexual trauma assessments, evidence-based treatment approaches including CPT, PE, and trauma-focused CBT adapted for sexual trauma, working with shame and self-blame that are nearly universal in this population, managing disclosure and mandatory reporting obligations, and addressing the specific treatment adaptations required for clients with complex trauma histories. Includes attention to male survivors, LGBTQ+ survivors, and survivors from culturally diverse backgrounds.
