Sexual Trauma: Assessment, Treatment, and Evidence-Based Interventions

What you'll learn

• Define the major categories of sexual trauma and articulate how each affects biopsychosocial functioning.
• Apply neurobiological knowledge of tonic immobility, dissociation, and traumatic memory to clinical assessment and treatment.
• Administer and interpret validated trauma instruments including the PCL-5 and LEC-5.
• Describe the evidence base for TF-CBT, EMDR, CPT, and Prolonged Exposure as first-line treatments.
• Recognize the specific clinical needs of male survivors, LGBTQ+ survivors, BIPOC survivors, and trafficking survivors.
• Apply trauma-informed principles throughout clinical contact with sexual trauma survivors.
