Sexual Health Across the Lifespan: Assessment and Psychoeducation in Counseling
Sexual health is a dimension of wellbeing that clients rarely raise spontaneously — and that clinicians rarely ask about, despite its profound impact on relationships, identity, self-concept, and overall mental health. This 3-hour continuing education course prepares mental health professionals to integrate sexual health assessment and psychoeducation into clinical practice across the lifespan: understanding sexual development from childhood through late adulthood, conducting respectful and trauma-informed sexual health histories, addressing common sexual concerns presenting in a mental health context, and providing evidenced-based psychoeducation about sexual functioning, consent, and healthy sexuality. The course addresses cultural, religious, and gender dimensions of sexuality and provides frameworks for working with sexual health concerns in diverse client populations.
