Foundations of Cultural Competence, Ethics, and Risk Reduction
The intersection of cultural competence and ethical practice is not incidental — it is where the most consequential clinical decisions are made. This 3-hour continuing education course provides a rigorous examination of the ethical obligations that govern cross-cultural practice, the risk management implications of cultural competence failures, and the practical skills for providing ethical, culturally grounded care to diverse client populations. Drawing on the ACA Code of Ethics, NBCC standards, and the growing research base on cultural adaptation of evidence-based treatments, you will develop fluency in identifying cultural factors that affect diagnosis, treatment planning, informed consent, and the therapeutic relationship — and in managing the ethical complexities that arise when cultural values and professional standards intersect.
