Attachment Theory in Adult Psychotherapy: Assessment and Intervention
Attachment theory provides one of the most clinically powerful frameworks for understanding adult relationships, therapeutic dynamics, and the conditions under which lasting psychological change becomes possible. This 3-hour continuing education course translates attachment research into direct clinical application: the four adult attachment patterns and their behavioral and relational signatures, the neurobiological substrates of attachment security and insecurity, the therapeutic relationship as an attachment relationship and its implications for treatment, evidence-based assessment approaches including the AAI and clinical interview strategies, and the specific therapeutic interventions that support movement toward earned security. Applicable for individual therapy, couples work, and any clinical population where early relational experiences shape present functioning.
